Jeff Hardy gets back IC title from Umaga

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Umaga v. Jeff Hardy

Hardy came right at Umaga and of course, came up on the short end of the stick. Umaga quickly pounced on the challenger and choked Hardy on the ropes. Jeff fought back with some punches to Umaga’s gut but after coming off the ropes, was hammered down to the mat by a back elbow. Umaga hit a head butt and stomped Hardy around the ring for a little while before the big man sent him careening sternum first into the turnbuckles.

Umaga sent the challenger reeling over the ropes and to the floor, leaving him in a heap as we went to commercial break.

****Commercial****

We came back to Umaga slapping Hardy all over the ring. He slapped on a claw move on Hardy’s shoulder, keeping him at bay on the mat. Hardy fought out of the hold somehow, but Umaga caught him coming off the ropes and planted him with a Samoan drop. Umaga scaled the ropes and went for a diving head butt, but no one was home.

Hardy began to make some inroads, hitting some flying forearms and the mule kick. He went for a sunset flip and when Umaga tried to sit out, Hardy avoided him and hit a baseball kick to the grill for a two count. Hardy kept it coming and went for a twist of fate but as Umaga pushed him off, settled for whisper in the wind instead for another near fall.

Hardy looked for a high cross body block, only to get caught in mid air and getting hit with a tilt a whirl belly to belly. Umaga scaled the ropes again but Hardy was able to cut him off and knock him to the mat, stunning him. Hardy jumped on top and BARELY grabbed the three count for the victory.

WWE The Great American Bash PPV Results - 7/22/07

WWE The Great American Bash PPV Results - 7/22/07
Location: San Jose, California
Announcers: Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole & JBL and Joey Styles & Tazz
Report By: Adam Martin of WrestleView.com

- The WWE promo hits.

- A video package airs highlighting tonight's scheduled matches.

- A graphic opening then hits welcoming us to The Great American Bash. We go live to San Jose where a series pyro goes off inside the H.P. Pavilion.

- Michael Cole welcomes us to the show along with JBL. They pass it on to Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler and then they pass it on to Joey Styles and Tazz at ringside as well.

- MVP defeated Matt Hardy to retain the WWE United States Championship. Matt Hardy got a big reaction from the crowd in San Jose. The match kicked off with MVP leaving the ring right away to compose himself. In the ring, MVP pulled off a big superplex. Hardy pulled off a quick bulldog. Another bulldog and MVP continues to kick out. Hardy with a big leg drop on MVP. Hardy hits the Side Effect on MVP, covers and MVP once again kicks out. Finish saw MVP hit the Playmaker on Hardy to get the pinfall and retain his title. Very good match.

- Backstage, Todd Grisham was with Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes had a bull rope around his neck. Rhodes brought up how many feel he created the Great American Bash. He said Randy Orton has a lack of respect and said the cow bell was going to be used on Orton tonight.

- Hornswoggle won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in a "Cruiserweight Open" Match over Jamie Noble, Chavo Guerrero, Funaki, Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang. Not a very long match here. The first person to gain a pinfall or submission is the winner and the Cruiserweight champion. All five competitors were in the ring to start the match. Tons of nearfalls early on in the match. Hornswoggle then appeared out of no where from under the ring and splashed Jamie Noble off the top rope as Chavo Guerrero gave Jimmy Wang Yang a superplex off the top rope while on the shoulders of Noble. I guess he is legal? Hornswoggle pinned Noble to become the new Cruiserweight champion. After the match, Hornswoggle ran to the back and a frustrated Chavo Guerrero yelled out that his title was stolen from him.

- A promo hyping Triple H's return airs.

- A video package on Bobby Lashley airs.

- Carlito defeated The Sandman in a Singapore Cane on a Pole Match. The first one to get the singapore cane can use it legally in the match. Sandman with some big right hands and offense on Carlito early on. Sandman took the action to the ground and worked on Carlito's left arm. Carlito responded with some shoulder charges to the corner on Sandman. The finish saw Sandman eventually get up and get the singapore cane. Sandman swung at Carlito, but Carlito ducked and hit Sandman with the Backcracker. Carlito got the pinfall to get the win.

- Backstage, Todd Grisham was with Randy Orton. Orton noted today was Shawn Michaels' birthday, but that he probably couldn't remember it since he took him out. He promised he was going to kill the legend of Dusty Rhodes tonight.

- Candice Michelle defeated Melina to retain the WWE Women's Championship. Jim Ross points out an interesting fact about Candice Michelle in that she is the first person to take part in the WWE Diva Search to become Women's champion. Another short match tonight on the card. Candice got the win with her new finisher called the Candy Wrapper (which is a modified standing bulldog/headlock) on Melina to get the pinfall to retain her title.

- A promo for WrestleMania 24 in Orlando airs.

- Backstage, Jeff and Matt Hardy were talking. Matt said he lost focus tonight in his match with MVP and that is why he lost. Candice then walks by and grabs a water, pouring it all over her chest. This distracts both Hardy's. Candice pours even more water on herself still distracting Jeff and Matt. Simmons looks at The Hardy's and gives out his "DAMN" line of the night.

- Umaga defeated Jeff Hardy to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Umaga took the action to the ground working on Jeff's head. Jeff attempted a comeback by lifting Umaga up, but Umaga came back down splashing Jeff. Umaga splashed Jeff across the chest jumping off the top rope near the corner. Big sidewalk slam by Umaga on Jeff. Jeff responded with an impressive cross-body over the top rope on Umaga. They did a nice series of near-falls with Hardy hitting the Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb, but Umaga kicked out each time. The finish saw Umaga hit Jeff with the splash to Jeff's head in the corner and then hit the Samoan Spike to get the pinfall and retain his title. Fans were really into this match and it was a nice change of pace.

- A video package on John Cena airs.

- John Morrison defeated CM Punk to retain the ECW World Title. Joey Styles and Tazz pointed out this was the first ever ECW Title Match in the history of The Great American Bash (also interesting to point out that this is the only match they are calling tonight). CM Punk went for the Go To Sleep very early on, but John Morrison was able to avoid it. Punk with a shining wizard, but Morrison kicked out on the pinfall attempt. The action spilled to the outside and Morrison worked on Punk against the guard railing. The finish saw Punk come off the top rope with a springboard attempt, but Morrison pulled up his knees and connected them with Punk's gut. Morrison then got the pinfall to retain his title. Solid match, but the crowd wasn't as receptive with previous matches on the card.

- A video package aired showing highlights of Cody Rhodes speaking at the 2007 WWE Hall of Fame inducting his father Dusty Rhodes. The events leading to tonight's Texas Bull Rope Match is also highlighted.

- Randy Orton defeated Dusty Rhodes in a Texas Bull Rope Match. Ross and Lawler make it clear you can win by pinfall or submission in this contest. We see each being strapped to the bull rope to get the match underway. Early on in the match, Orton continued to try and escape, but Rhodes would pull him back each time. Dusty was way over with the crowd in San Jose. Yet another short offering from WWE tonight with just a little over five minutes. The finish saw Orton hit Rhodes with the cow bell, a noise that echoed throughout the arena, to get the pinfall and the win. After the match, Orton looked to attack Dusty some more when Cody Rhodes hit the ring. Randy and Cody had a stare down as Randy left to the back. Really came off as a squash match believe it or not.

- A video package airs highlighting the events of Smackdown this past week showing how The Great Khali won the World Title in a 20 Man Battle Royal and how a no contest between Batista and Kane led into tonight's match.

- The Great Khali defeated Batista & Kane in a Triple Threat Match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. During the entrances, Michael Cole noted that Edge had successfully surgery this week for his left torn pectoral muscle. Batista and Kane teamed up early on to slam Great Khali through the ECW announce table (which Khali cleared off earlier). Back in the ring, Kane gave Khali a chokeslam that got a big reaction from the crowd in San Jose. Batista broke up the pinfall attempt by Kane on Khali. Batista with a big spinebuster on Khali and Kane breaks up the pinfall attempt. Kane then responds with a big chokeslam on Batista. Kane leaves the ring going for a steel chair, but Batista counters that attempt by Kane. Batista hits a spinebuster and Batista Bomb on Kane, but Khali pulled Batista out of the ring during the pinfall. Khali then slammed Kane and got the pinfall to retain the title. Was about as much as you could expect out of a match involving Khali.

- Another promo for Triple H's return.

- King Booker came out to the arena along with Queen Sharmell. Booker cut a promo on Triple H saying he isn't the king of anything and that only king in WWE was King Booker. He also requested once again that Jerry Lawler, or "Jermone" Lawler as he called him, stop referring to himself as The King and charged him with an act of treason. Jim Ross announced that Triple H would returning at SummerSlam on August 26.

- A video package airs highlighting tonight's WWE Championship Match tonight between John Cena and Bobby Lashley.

- John Cena defeated Bobby Lashley to retain the WWE Championship. Lilian Garcia did the introductions for both Cena and Lashley before the match. Ross noted that Cena's title reign is now over 300 days. Cena and Lashley have a test of strength early on. Cena attempted an STFU early on, but Lashley was able to escape out of it. Lashley missed a splash in the corner on Cena and Cena dropped Lashley with a big bulldog. Cena hit Lashley with some hard rights backing him into the corner. Lashley hit a modified firemans carry on Cena after Cena caught him with a boot to the face in the corner. Lashley picked up Cena and slammed him into the corner following that up with some shoulder charges. Cena with a big leg drop over the back of Lashley's head from the top rope. Lashley responded by dropping Cena on his face and then got his back applying a neck submission. Cena with the five knuckle shuffle on Lashley, but it didn't do much. Cena with an FU attempt, but Lashley counters that into a big powerslam. Lashley with a big torture rack drop on Cena. Cena responds with the FU, but wasn't able to crawl over and cover Lashley in time. Cena gets Lashley locked in the STFU. They made this really dramatic. Lashley eventually got the ropes. Lashley levels Cena with a Spear, covers, but Cena kicks out. The finish then saw Cena hit the FU on Lashley off the middle rope. Cena covers and gets the pinfall to retain the title. Very solid match. After the match, Cena celebrated by holding the WWE Title over his head.

The Hardys competing on singles matches for the IC and USA belts

Make it a family affair at The Great American Bash!

Thanks to his win in a Four Way Elimination Match on Raw, Jeff Hardy will once again look to wear Intercontinental gold as he squares off with the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga.

Jeff’s brother, Matt, is also seeking championship gold at The Bash, facing Montel Vontavious Porter for the United States Championship. And the Carolina tandem is looking to make this family reunion in San Jose, Calif., one to remember.

Jeff lost the Intercontinental Championship to Umaga on Raw in February, and has since worn World Tag Team gold with his brother, Matt. But losing the tag titles nearly two months ago has left this half of the Hardy house hungry for a championship.

In the same manner, Matt Hardy has had a hunger for gold. While he’s more than a month removed from losing the World Tag Team Championship, he has turned up the heat in SmackDown singles action.

In previous weeks, he’s beaten numerous SmackDown Superstars with the Twist of Fate – a move that has been scoring pinfalls seemingly out of nowhere. Can the Carolina Superstar Twist his way past SmackDown’s No. 1 playmaker to become the next United States Champion? Will it be a ‘Hardy’ helping of championship gold for Jeff? Or will the Swanton Bomber become another victim of the massive monster, Umaga?

We'll find out when the fireworks explode at The Great American Bash...

Chris Benoit, family found dead

World Wrestling Entertainment was informed by authorities in Fayette County, Ga. on June 25, 2007, that WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son were found dead in their home.

According to the lead investigator of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.

Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.

Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.

At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

Instead of its announced programming for Monday on USA Network, WWE aired a three-hour tribute to Chris Benoit.

Other Wresling Promotions, like TNA, also were saddened about the tragedy and issued a statement regarding this.

I want my WWE Ladder Match DVD!

Another early salary arrives, which means another early spending, which also reminds me that next week is the deadline for my web host's quarterly payment. Well, as a treat to myself for torturing my fingers into keying thousands and thousands of numerical figures every month, I decided to eat lunch at Wendy's and order their #7 combo - Big Bacon Mushroom Melt. As i was about to finish eating my burger, I realized something is not right, this is not their Quarter Pounder burger! F@*#! They gave me the smaller one, maybe because of too much hunger i didn't notice it when i ordered at the counter. Usually, it took me around 15-20 minutes chewing/grinding a BBMM.... but this one was finished in just less then 5 minutes. And since I already ate the whole burger, there's no way I can replace that (right?), at least that's what I know. Anyways, lesson learned... next time I'll probably weigh it first with my hand :)

Hardys loses the Tag Team belts

these are the events that happened on June 4, 2007 Monday Night Raw:

After a commercial, Cade & Murdoch were seen congratulating The Hardy’s on a match well fought last One Night Stand. They asked the Hardy’s when they asked when they could have a shot. The Hardy’s said they definitely deserved a shot and offered one tonight but Cade and Murdoch declined and said they only wanted one when the Hardy’s were 100%. Vince walked up and spoiled the party, making a tag championship match for later tonight between the two teams. Cade & Murdoch looked despondent.

The Match:
The Hardy’s look a tad banged up. Cade and Murdoch didn’t look like they were crazy about being there either. They shook hands and here we go.

Cade backed up Matt Hardy and grabbed a snap mare. Matt countered wit ha bow and arrow. The two traded some holds before Cade hit a hard back elbow. Matt grabbed an inside cradle for a near fall before almost getting another pin fall with a back slide. Murdoch called Cade back to the corner to regroup before he and Matt locked it up again.

The two exchanged some moves coming off the ropes before Cade grabbed the advantage with the drop kick for a two count. Murdoch tagged in and grabbed an arm wringer before getting a two count. Cade grabbed a shoulder block but on the second attempt found himself back body dropped. Matt tagged in Jeff who entered the ring gingerly before the two hit a double team for a near fall.

Jeff grabbed an arm wringer of his own before Matt tagged in and hit an axe handle on Cade’s shoulder. The two made another tag and Jeff leapfrogged off Matt and clattered into Murdoch for a near fall. Cade missed a move and he and his partner ended up on the outside. Jeff flung himself over the top and into Murdoch on the outside.

Jeff made the tag and was screaming about his knee as we went to commercial break.

****Commercial****

Looks like Jeff has tweaked the knee and Matt is taking a beating on the inside. Matt went for an axe handle off the top but Murdoch yanked him off, literally. Cade tagged in and hit a body slam and dropped a nasty knee into the small of the back of Matt. Cade kept up the punishment before tagging his partner back into the match.

Murdoch hit some muy thai knees to Hardy’s mid section before connecting with a side Russian leg sweep for a two count. Cade tagged in and dropped an elbow on Matt’s ribs, getting a two count on the cover. Hardy hit a kick to the face on the irish whip, but Cade connected with a grizzly spine buster for a pair of two counts.

Murdoch tagged in and hit a snap mare and cinched in a reverse bear hug. The crowd rallied behind Matt and he was eventually able to hit a reverse DDT and created some distance. Matt made the tag to the clearly injured Jeff. Jeff came in a house of fire and cleaned house on the challengers. Jeff looked for the swanton bomb but Murdoch caught him at the top rope. Matt cleared out Murdoch and hit the side effect on Cade.

Murdoch dragged Hardy out of the ring but Jeff was already re-perched on the top rope. Jeff missed the swanton bomb allowing Cade to get the cover. Jeff looked like he may have had the foot on the ropes. Nonetheless, the ref counted three and we’ve got new champs.

Winners and NEW World Tag Team Champions: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch via pin fall

Matt approached the two after the match and asked if Jeff’s foot was on the ropes. They said they didn’t know. As soon as Matt turned around the two took their newly won titles and clocked the Hardy’s, leaving them in a heap in them middle of the ring.

WWE One Night Stand PPV Results

WWE One Night Stand PPV Results - 6/3/07
Location: Jacksonville, Florida
Announcers: Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole & JBL and Joey Styles & Tazz
Report By: Adam Martin of WrestleView.com

- The WWE promo hits.

- A video package airs highlighting tonight's scheduled matches.

- A graphic opening then hits welcoming us to One Night Stand. We go live to Jacksonville where a series pyro goes off inside the Veterans Memorial Arena.

- Rob Van Dam defeated Randy Orton in a Stretcher Match. Dory Funk Jr. is sitting in the front row behind the announcers. It looks like Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler will call this match. The object is to roll your opponent on the stretcher to the marked finish line. Randy Orton was the first one out. They aired a clip of the Orton-RVD feud recently. RVD was out next and got a big reaction from the Jacksonville crowd. A stretcher is placed against the side of the ring. Orton hit RVD with a big punch early on and RVD went down selling the "concussion" as he did on ECW. Orton attempted an RKO, but RVD was able to counter it. RVD went to the top, but fell off. Orton rolled a glazed over RVD back into the ring. Orton then tried to put RVD on the stretcher, but RVD rolled away. RVD then made a comeback putting Orton on the stretcher and hitting a spinning leg drop off the ring apron on Orton. RVD then put Orton back on the stretcher and attempted a running flip dive over the top rope, but Orton moved and RVD hit the outside hard. Orton then grabs RVD and puts on back on the stretcher. Orton starts rolling him to the finish line, but RVD gets up and gets some offense in on Orton. The finish then saw RVD get Orton on the stretcher and push him over the finish line to get the win. After the match, Orton took out RVD with a big kick to the head followed by a big DDT on the floor to take him out. Medical trainers then came out and put a neckbrace on RVD. They then took him away to the back.

- Backstage, ECW Champion Vince McMahon was with Shane. He said he had a premonition that was bothering him like a slow-eating cancer. Vince told Shane that it had nothing to do with tonight's match. Very odd promo.

- CM Punk, Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman defeated The New Breed (Elijah Burke, Matt Striker & Marcus Cor Von) in a Six Man Tables Match. They are still selling the previous watching wondering if Rob Van Dam was really okay. Early on in the match, Tommy Dreamer went for a table and Marcus Cor Von cut him off. Big spot saw CM Punk take a huge dive over the top rope taking out Cor Von on the outside. Matt Striker brought a table into the ring and set it up in the corner. Punk and Cor Von continue to go at it and Cor Von gives Punk a big powerbomb. Cor Von then sets up a table and puts Punk on it. Sandman then hits Cor Von with his singapore cane. Striker then gets involved and takes out Sandman. The finish saw Dreamer give Elijah Burke a piledriver and put him on a table. Punk then gave Striker a superplex onto Burke smashing the table to get the win.

- The WWE Draft on June 11 is plugged.

- Backstage, Randy Orton is talking with Edge. Orton brings up how his former partners, Edge and Batista, are competing for the World Title tonight and he isn't. Orton told Edge he was on a roll right now and said if Edge wins tonight and he gets traded to Smackdown, he will be next. Edge told Orton he will end up like Batista tonight if he ends up getting traded to Smackdown.

- At ringside, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler said that Rob Van Dam has suffered another concussion. So, this could be the way they are writing him off.

- The Hardys defeated The World's Greatest Tag Team in a Ladder Match to retain the World Tag Team Titles. All four men are legal in this Ladder Match. Was a cool spot early on when all four men brought four ladders into the ring and The Hardys gave Haas and Benjamin dropkicks to take them out. Jeff was the first person to get a ladder set up and climbed up, but Haas pushed him off. Another spot saw Jeff and Matt climb up both sides of a ladder, but Benjamin slammed another ladder into their ladder. Haas and Benjamin attemped the same thing and The Hardys cut them off as well. Yet another big spot which saw The Hardys send Haas and Benjamin into tables. Jeff put a table against the guard railing and sent Haas into it. Another table spot saw Benjamin get flipped over the top rope and land on a table on the outside. Matt sets up a table in the ring and makes an attempt, but Haas and Benjamin tip the ladder over. Benjamin hit a quick T-Bone Suplex on Jeff and then jumped off a ladder onto Matt. Jeff came back with a big suplex on Haas off the ladder when Haas was trying to climb up. Real cool spot saw Benjamin flip over the top rope and dropkick the ladder that Jeff was climbing up. Benjamin then started going up another ladder and Matt knocked him off. Two ladders are set up and all four start to climb up. Both ladders eventually get tipped over. The finish saw Jeff hit a Swanton Bomb on Haas and Matt climbed up to get the belts for the win.

- Backstage, The Great Khali was with his translator. Khali said he beat Cena last night on Saturday Night's Main Event with one foot and will do it again tonight. He added he is returning to India after he wins the title tonight. Could he still go back and stay there for good even if he loses?

- Mark Henry defeated Kane in a Lumberjack Match. Your Lumberjacks tonight are Chris Benoit, Val Venis, WWE Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella, Balls Mahoney, Stevie Richards, The Miz, Kevin Thorn, Chris Masters, Johnny Nitro, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero, Kenny Dykstra and Carlito. Early on in the match, Mark Henry sent Kane through the ropes to the outside. However, the lumberjacks are too scared to go after him. Henry is tossed out next and the lumberjacks try to put him back in the ring. Henry outpowers everyone and goes back in himself. The action spilled to the outside again and Henry sent Kane into the ring post. The lumberjacks threw Kane back in the ring this time. In the ring, Henry locked on a Bear Hug on Kane. Kane fights out of it sending Henry to the outside among the lumberjacks. Kane then jumped off the top rope and connected with Henry along with other lumberjacks. Back in the ring, Kane connected with a big chokeslam on Henry. Chavo Guerrero and Kenny Dykstra ran in after this took place. Kane took out Dykstra with a big slam. Henry then got back up and locked Kane in the Bear Hug again. Kane couldn't break out of it and Henry got the win.

- Backstage, The Hardys and The World's Greatest Tag Team were being treated after the Ladder Match. Both teams start to brawl again with WWE agents and referees getting involved to break it up.

- A video package runs highlighting tonight's ECW Title Street Fight Match between Vince McMahon and Bobby Lashley.

- Bobby Lashley defeated Vince McMahon (with Shane McMahon & Umaga) in a Street Fight Match to become the NEW ECW World Champion. Bobby Lashley is getting a big reaction from the Jacksonville crowd. Vince came to the ring along with Shane and Umaga. Lashley went after Umaga right away. Shane got involved and tossed Lashley back into the ring. Lashley then sent Shane back to the outside onto Umaga. Lashley then went right after Vince, but Shane and Umaga got involved once again. Shane brought a steel chair in and gives Lashley a DDT on it with help from Umaga. Shane and Umaga continue to work on Lashley as Vince looks on. They send Lashley to the outside and continue to attack him. Vince gets in a few cheap shots and chokes Lashley with some cable. Back in the ring, Umaga gives Lashley a Samoan Drop. Vince covers Lashley, but Lashley kicks out. Shane and Umaga then hold up Lashley allowing Vince to give him a Spear. Another pinfall attempt and again Lashley kicks out. Umaga then attempts a splash on Lashley, but Lashley moves and connects with Vince instead. Lashley then sends Shane into the air over the top rope and then takes out Vince with the steel chair. Lashley continues with chair shots on Vince. Lashley hits Vince with a big running powerbomb, covers, but Umaga pulled Lashley out. Umaga then connects with a splash on Lashley on the outside of the ring. Umaga tosses Lashley up onto the announce table. Shane goes up to the top rope and drops an elbow across Lashley breaking the announce table. Lashley is thrown back into the ring and Umaga connects with his running splash to the head in the corner on Lashley. Shane then goes up on the opposite turnbuckle and looks to hit the Van Terminator, but Lashley moves. The finish saw Lashley take out Shane with a big Spear and then take out Vince with a Spear to get the win and caputure the ECW World Title. After the match, Lashley levels Vince with another Spear.

- The Vengeance PPV on June 24 is plugged. They refer to it as the "night of champions."

- Backstage, Maria is talking to Santino Marella. Todd Grisham then shows up to get Maria's opinion on the Pudding Match tonight between WWE Women's Champion Melina and Candice Michelle. She did the 180 again where she goes from a ditz to being intelligent. Candice then comes up and says she will beat Melina once again. Candice wants to kiss Santino for good luck, but Maria kisses Candice instead. Santino said he loved America. Ron Simmons then shows up and gets in his "DAMN!" line.

- Candice Michelle defeated WWE Women's Champion Melina in a Pudding Match (Non-Title). Melina came out wearing goggles. It started with Candice throwing Melina into the bowl of pudding. Lots of rolling around inside and outside the bowl of pudidng. The quick finish saw Candice make Melina tap out to get the win in less than three minutes after she continued to push Melina's face into the pudding. After the match, Maria came out to interview Candice. Maria gets pudding thrown at her by Melina and Maria goes after Melina in the pudding.

- We then see a live shot of the Steel Cage being lowered.

- A video package airs highlighting the events leading into tonight's World Heavyweight Title Match tonight between Edge and Batista in a Steel Cage.

- Edge defeated Batista in a Steel Cage Match to retain the World Heavyweight Title. Right when the cage door shut and the bell rang, Edge tried to escape and Batista stopped him from doing it. Tons of offense from Batista on Edge early on. Batista made an escape attempt up the cage wall, but Edge dropped him with a dropkick to the knee. Edge then took out Batista with a big Spear into the side of the cage wall. Edge yelled at the referee to open the door. Batista caught up to Edge though and threw him up onto the top rope. Batista then gave Edge a big superplex. When Edge recovered, he attempted another Spear that was countered by Batista with a big shoulder block. Batista then catches Edge with a big side slam. We see a shot of Edge bleeding from his mouth at this point in the match. Batista then grabbed Edge and attempted a Batista Bomb, but Edge countered and climbed up the side of the cage wall. Edge got to the top and Batista climbed up to stop him from going over. Edge then gave Batista a quick low blow at the top. When Batista fell off, Edge continued to climb over the top of the cage. Batista then went to escape through the cage door, but Edge jumped off the cage and was the first to touch the floor to get the win. After the match, Edge bailed over the guard railing to the back through the crowd. Edge left without the World Title. Batista finds it at ringside.

- A promo airs for SummerSlam on August 26.

- A video package runs highlighting tonight's WWE Title Match between John Cena and The Great Khali with Falls Count Anywhere rules.

- John Cena defeated The Great Khali in a Falls Count Anywhere Match to retain the WWE Title. They are really emphasizing that The Great Khali has never been pinned, so he will probably get pinned tonight. John Cena got a mixed reaction from the Jacksonville crowd. Right when the match kicked off, Khali leveled Cena with a big boot. Khali attempted to follow it up with a leg drop, but Cena moved. When Cena went up on the top rope, Khali knocked him off sending Cena to the floor. Khali then took out Cena again with a big boot, attempted a pinfall, but Cena kicked out. Khali grabs one of the TV monitors and sends Cena face first into it. Both men then start to brawl into the crowd. Cena returns the favor and takes out Khali with a TV monitor as well. Cena attempts a pinfall on Khali in the crowd, but Khali quickly kicks out. Cena then tries to get Khali up for an FU, but it doesn't happen. Khali then throws Cena into the bed area of a crane. Cena comes back and gives Khali an FU off the crane bed onto a crash pad. Big reaction from the crowd with the spot. Cena covered Khali and got pinfall to retain the WWE Title. After the match, Cena returned to the ring and celebrated with the WWE Title as the PPV went off air.

TIT(Terri Invitational Tournament)

No Mercy 1999 - $100,000 Ladder Match

this is the first ever tag team ladder match in wrestling, participants were Edge and Christian against The Brood (Matt and Jeff Hardy) fighting for $100,000 and the managerial services of Terri Runnels, I think this is the first time Jeff did his signature Leapfrog - (Positioned at the top rope or on another ladder, Jeff Hardy performs a Guillotine leg drop after leapfrogging over a ladder).
