old jeff indy appearance

i've been busy the past few weeks, just bought a laptop from tpc... just a pretty decent notebook, enough to get some jobs done... niweys philHousing is now revamped... and i'm planning on doing the same thing to kali by next month or so... that means there won't be any frequent updates/tech news on this blog for the next couple of days... i'll just post some vids or lyrics or something just to keep the blog going... for now check this video in a small Carolina wrestling promotion where Jeff Hardy hits an indy manager with a Twist of Fate :)

prayer for my father

God our Father,
in your wisdom and love you made all things. Bless those fathers who have taken upon themselves, the responsibility of parenting.
Bless those who have lost a spouse to death ...
or divorce
who are parenting their children alone.
Strengthen them by your love that they may be and become the loving, caring persons they are meant to be.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Happy Father's Day!

Free hosting or Paid hosting?

Just came from Megamall after watching 1 cool movie - (Ocean's 13), but before that i passed by Metrobank to pay for my web hosting account. Now some are asking why do i have to pay for an account when there are free hosting services out there (geocities, netfirms, freeservers, tripod, angelfire and the likes)... well, i've been there... done that... now... i need the money :)

I've been using Yahoo's geocities for quite long and I've been annoyed by their ads that they attach to your website in return to the free hosting. And then I found out that you can really earn some money if clicks to those advertisements will be credited to you. And how do you do that... by paying a web host for your own web account and domain. Read this article to learn more about Free vs. Paid Hosting:

Free Hosting

Ten years ago your options for free web hosting were pretty clear cut; there were a few major companies that ran the market and you simply chose between them. Their options and conditions were also pretty clear cut: each one had ads that displayed on your web site, each one severely limited your allocated web space, and each one controlled the content that you were allowed to display on it.

Now, in 2007, the market is much different. Most free web hosting companies still require you to place their ads on your website, though now the ads are far less intrusive and take up much less space. Free hosting companies are now offering much more space (I’ve seen free hosts offering in excess of 100 megabytes of storage) and are giving their users more control over what can be displayed and how it can be accomplished (website, forum, blog, etc.)

There are even companies that will give you free domain names in exchange for advertising space.

Almost all free web space providers also limit your monthly bandwidth (the amount of data that your site can send or receive). If your website becomes popular you may see it taken offline when it exceeds it’s daily or monthly bandwidth allocation. This can be, at the least, incredibly annoying; at the worst it could cost you or your business money (from lost profits are lost sales).

Paid Hosting

Free hosting will always be the same animal: free web space and a sub domain, but you must place their advertisements on your website (and receive none of the profits). For many users it doesn’t really matter. However, if you are trying to create a website for business, profit, or professional use you do not want someone else’s ads on your site, period.

Advertising on the internet has become a big business. In fact, billions of dollars are spent each year on internet marketing. If you have a website that’s hosted by a free provider chances are good that you’ve given them their fair share of that billion dollar pie. Having your own hosting leaves you open to choose what you want to do regarding advertising or monetization.

Essentially, your website can make you money much easier than a site that’s hosted for free can. This is primarily because all of the ads that may appear on your website will be because you chose to put them there. If your website becomes popular this could become a big income- why give that to someone else?

Paid hosting has come down in price quite dramatically. You can now find hosting for $3 a month Host Gator and domain names as low as $8.88. The number of features that that you receive for such a low price are also on the rise.

A few years ago $3 a month might have gotten you 100 megabytes of storage and a few e-mail addresses. Today $3 gets you 500 megabytes or more of storage, hundreds of e-mail addresses, multiple FTP accounts, mySQL databases, and so much more.

Many hosting companies will give you a domain name for free when you purchase a hosting plan through them. This is a low-cost way to create a professional and branded website.

So, which is best?

Well, they’re both good. In fact, as time goes on, they’re only going to get better. However, if you want to have any level of professionalism you are going to want to allocate a few dollars every month to professional and reliable web hosting- the number of benefits are simply too numerous to pass up.

I want my WWE Ladder Match DVD!

Another early salary arrives, which means another early spending, which also reminds me that next week is the deadline for my web host's quarterly payment. Well, as a treat to myself for torturing my fingers into keying thousands and thousands of numerical figures every month, I decided to eat lunch at Wendy's and order their #7 combo - Big Bacon Mushroom Melt. As i was about to finish eating my burger, I realized something is not right, this is not their Quarter Pounder burger! F@*#! They gave me the smaller one, maybe because of too much hunger i didn't notice it when i ordered at the counter. Usually, it took me around 15-20 minutes chewing/grinding a BBMM.... but this one was finished in just less then 5 minutes. And since I already ate the whole burger, there's no way I can replace that (right?), at least that's what I know. Anyways, lesson learned... next time I'll probably weigh it first with my hand :)

on my own...

as i am now living on my own place, and since i still don't have enough dough to purchase my own pc... i'm updating everything from a nearby pc rental... i'll probably be spending around 2-3 hrs a day just to check everything... especially just recently kali and philHousing was again invaded by those Nigerian scammers/spammers... imagine finding mp3/celphone advertisements in a real estate website(!) geez... eniweys what i'm really happy about right now is what my RSS feeds for philHousing has done so far... since adding/pinging my feeds, traffic just went real high with hits increasing every day! wowowee! that's why i also added RSS for PWD and soon will be working out with kali's feeds...

trapik

had a busy week again... what i'm doing now is trying to improve philHousing's traffic flow... i noticed through my site stats that it hasn't been visited that much by search engine bots, unlike kali w/c is crawled very often... i submitted my url to some web directories but what's eating most of my time lately is RSS (Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary or Random Stupid Site or whatever) - it's a simple XML based format that allows anyone to easily share content on the web... i started putting rss feeds on the latest property listing of philHousing with a little help from rapidfeeds.com w/c saves me from the coding part of the xml file... then submitted my RSS to hundreds (ok not hundreds but quite a number) of RSS search engines/directories... with these i'm expecting some changes with regards to the number of visits on my sites...

abortretryfail aborted....

seems like reviving my old gaming website is impossible for now... just maintaining and marketing two others already takes up some hours out of me so making another site will be difficult... right now i'm busy spamming(well, not really) my two favorite filipino community forums (pex, mtc) with ads to promote philHousing and kali then i also added some banner exchanges with foreign real estate websites and OFW websites as well...

change of plans...

seems like joomla's user friendly interface is not so friendly to me... either that or i'm just too lazy to read and understand it's user manual (hehe)... it's one good cms i must say... but yeah, maybe i'm more used w/ just the old school static htmls w/ a little css here and there... so once again i searched the internet for free html templates and here's my new abortretryfail homepage

busy... busy... busy...

a bit busy lately, yesterday I received an e-mail from google accepting my adsense application (yey!)... i'm very excited all i did was create ad units, link units, search boxes and referral buttons all over my sites....

I also installed joomla, a content management system w/c i will use for my new abortretryfail website. I browsed through different free templates and found this one cool looking format... check it out soon :)

reviving my very first website...

i'm now planning on reviving my very first website "abort, retry, fail" w/c can still be seen @ http://www.abortretryfail.cjb.net

this site was abandoned for quite some time now, if you looked at the main page the last update i did w/ the website was June of 2005...and
have undergone several changes since it began in 2002... placed it under yahoo's free web hosting - geocities and used a redirecting url to make the web address a bit short...

abortretryfail at first featured some cheat codes to popular pc games, then i added some strategy guides/FAQs w/c i personally created - the most downloaded was my Project IGI2 gamefaq (trivia: most e-mails i got asking tips for the game were coming from India, the game's quite popular there i think since up till now i'm still receiving e-mails from them)... all these strategy guides i made can also be found at gamefaqs - one of my favorite gaming websites offering millions of tips/faqs on playing video and pc games...

back to abortretryfail, last additions i made were the inclusion of emulators.... programs w/c lets you play console/handheld/arcade games on your pc... this gave the site good traffic for some period... the most reason were gamers looking for PS2 emulators (w/c AFAIK until now have yet to see a fully functional one)

anyways I'm starting on gathering my resources back... created a new address under dot tk ==>abortretryfail.tk

and soon abortretryfail will rise again! (bwa ha ha ha ha)
